Save the Date

Save the Date - July 29, 2006

I just ordered our Save the Date postcards from Rocket Postcards, my long-time printers for show cards and such. The illustration is by our good friend Noah and represents one of those long design processes where, after 4 or 5 revisions of 3 or 4 designs, you ask "that first thing you did? Can we go with that?" First thought, best thought, my friends.

The notion of a Save the Date card is yet another wedding thing I had never really thought about. "If you know the date your wedding is going to be, why not just send out the invitation?" I asked myself. Well, self, the answer is that if you've told a bunch of people September, but then changed the date of your wedding to July, and if you're not ready with all the details like hotels, the exact time, etc. but you do want people to, well, save that date, then you need to send something out. So that's what we're doing.

Wedding Movies

Our friend Dana is getting married, too, this summer and asked her friends their favorite wedding movie. Which is a silly question, since the answer is Four Weddings and a Funeral. (I just have to pretend in my head that Andie MacDowell is some other actress. She drives me insane.) (And despite my emphasis, feel free to disagree.)

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day to all you lovebirds!

Though we officially celebrated last week (with awesome sushi), I am grateful today to have found the love of my life. Happy Valentines Day, Fuzzy. You are the best in the world. And that Elyse Sewell book is freaking great. xoxoxox!

Thanks to everyone who came to the party, and special thanks to everyone who gave us an (unexpected) engagement present, and extra special thanks to Dan and Vicky who gave us the bestest engagement present ever:

Now we can find out what it's going to be like to be married!

I mean, ignoring the fact that they're getting divorced. Or what Dan and Vicky call Nick's look of resignation and impending doom on the cover of the final season. Or the fact that they didn't call it Season Four, but rather the FINAL Season:

We have a date!!

Hooray! We have a space for the wedding and a confirmed date!
Saturday, July 29th, 2006.

The space is a (very generous) friend's apartment, so the wedding is going to be totally quirky and unconventional. We are really going to try to taylor it to our personalities. This is so very exciting! We are thinking it will be an afternoon wedding, going into early evening. And there are plenty of places to drink and play in the neighborhood, so the party can continue well after we leave.

So Save the Date! July 29th!
